Colourful Chinook

Chinook

The Chinook has been a well-known feature of our skies for decades. These experiments with Google Picasa show the helicopter's distinctive shape in somewhat of a new light!

The display at Kemble some years ago showed how this cumbersome-looking machine could be flown at some surprising angles. And it's always fun seeing something flying backwards or sideways.

Even a simple image like this becomes quite dramatic, with the almost-monochrome, "negative" look.

The Fox Moth

DH83 Fox Moth

The first flight of a de Havilland DH83 Fox Moth was in 1932, and only 154 were ever built. So it was a great pleasure to see this example at Kemble some years ago. According to data held by the CAA, G-AOJH is still in airworthy condition, so hopefully this delightful aircraft will continue to give pleasure to the public for many years to come.
